Wilderness Walks
During your stay take the opportunity to indulge in a variety of guided walks through this pristine temperate rainforest. Your hosts at the Tarkine Wilderness Lodge are experienced guides who can escort you on a safe, yet breathtaking stroll that will stay in your memory forever. During your walk you will see a large variety of plant species ranging from tall Eucalyptus, giant Myrtles, Sassafras, Blackwood and an abundance of ferns, mosses and lichens. The forest is home to a vast array of Fungi in so many beautiful colours. The best time to see them is August and June. The tracks meander gently under the rainforest canopy and pass by several small creeks and rivers. [View images]

Excursions to the Arthur River
This guided walk is the longest walk we have on offer. There are a number of options you can choose depending on your fitness level and or your time frame. The track meanders gently under the rainforest canopy and pass by several small creeks and rivers. Some steeper sections are encountered but they are short and allow for a magnificent view. An abundance of bird life can be seen and heard making this walk ideal for bird watching and photographers. As the walk descends into the Arthur River valley the gentle noise of wind in the tree tops is gradually replaced by the sound of water rushing pass large rock formations in this mighty river basin. Field Days
Are you a part of a club or a solo artist? Our field days cater to many activities; Photographers, Painters, Bird Watchers just to name a few and they are just great to get your creativity flowing. Set up your easel in the middle of the forest, take a picnic lunch or walk back to Gazebo for a BBQ. (Price on request)
Wildlife Encounters
The Tarkine is home to 56 threatened and endangered species, such as the Giant Freshwater Crayfish - the world's largest freshwater invertebrate - and the Tasmanian Wedge Tailed Eagle, the largest eagle in Australia.
